Heya folks,
Sorry I haven’t posted in a while, truth is, sometimes I don’t know what the hell to post on social media these days, plus we all need a mental re-charge sometimes.
Ages ago, I wanted to be a songwriter in the vein of a Diane Warren, or Desmond Child, but alas, coming from the punk world I only knew three chords (okay, maybe four), anyway, I managed to write a few “pop songs” and with the financial help of a couple of kind souls I booked a studio and got one propper song recorded.
I wish I kept better records of my collaborators. The lyrics and music were composed by me, so yeah I’m the clown playing the sloppy guitar parts. The vocals were done by a sweet Newyorican singer named Charo. I was intruduced to her by another Newyorican I’ve met when I took a short audio engineering class. MIDI sequences were done by a brilliant composer whose name excapes me, it was all done in a flash and burn way, meaning fast, studio time was expensive back then.
We rehearsed the song a bit and then went into a hip-hop studio somewhere in Canarsie. The song was recorded on the fly, including the solo sections, this is a demo after all, so you’ll hear mistakes here and there. Overall I think it was a decent demo.
I might include the lyrics on a collection of poems I’ve been working on.
