If you know me, I don’t like hippy tunes, not that’s there’s anything wrong with them it’s just not my jam daddio. I like stuff that’s a bit punchy and confrontational. At another date I’ll have to post a mix tape of tunes I enjoy, for now here’s a song from Jefferson Airplane base on the literary classic from Lewis Carrol Alice in Wonderland.
From the top of my head, I can only thing of about two songs in the “hippy” cannon of tunes that I like. California Dreaming, from the Mamas and the Papas, being one of them and White Rabbit. Grace Slick is an amazing singer, she elevates this song.
Get ready for some psychedelic colors… Feed your Head.
White Rabbit.
Lyrics by Grace Slick.
One pill makes you larger
And one pill makes you small
And the ones that mother gives you
Don't do anything at all
Go ask Alice
When she's ten feet tall
And if you go chasing rabbits
And you know you're going to fall
Tell 'em a hookah-smoking caterpillar
Has given you the call
Call Alice
When she was just small
When the men on the chessboard
Get up and tell you where to go
And you've just had some kind of mushroom
And your mind is moving low
Go ask Alice
I think she'll know
When logic and proportion
Have fallen sloppy dead
And the White Knight is talking backwards
And the Red Queen's off with her head
Remember what the dormouse said
Feed your head
Feed your head.
